What is Breast Augmentation Surgery with Implants?

Breast implant surgery or breast augmentation is the most popular choice for women who want to enlarge their breast size.

In response to changes in weight or following breastfeeding or pregnancy, you can replenish the lost volume by having your breast augmented. If you think your breast are too small, it is the best way to enhance your appearance. The surgery involves inserting implants under the breast tissue to improve the size, change the shape or make them more symmetrical.

Who Performs Breast Enhancement Surgery in our UK Clinic?

At Epilium & Skin London clinic, breast implants are performed by our GMC-registered, breast-specialised plastic surgeons, lead by our resident plastic surgeon Dr Guillaume Lemierre. Dr Lemierre has more than 15 years of experience in the field. All of our practitioners are GMC registered and members of both the International Society of Aesthetic and Plastic Surgery and the French Society of Plastic Surgery and Aesthetic (SOFCPRE). Our surgeons use the highest quality of CE mark and FDA approved implants for a natural look and feel.

When it comes to breast enlargement, our team of surgeons can also use the fat transfer technique to add volume to the breasts, utilizing fat taken from another area of the body. This technique can also be coupled with breast enlargement surgery.

First Breast Surgery Consultation

Once you decide to come in for a consultation, our consultant breast surgeon will take time to evaluate your general health status to avoid any risk factors.

They will discuss the size and shape of your existing breast, listen to your expectations and guide you to determine the shape, size and specific type of implants available to you. The most commonly used implants for plastic surgery are silicone gel implants, as they look more natural than saline ones. You will talk through the options on whether you want the breast implants under or over the muscle and determine where you want the incision.

They will show you breast implants after surgery photos and will answer all your questions so that you are able to make an informed decision about your breast augmentation.

If you would prefer the fat transfer technique, this would also be the perfect opportunity to discuss your options with the surgeon to see if you are eligible for this technique of breast enlargement.

How is Breast Augmentation Surgery Performed?

Breast implant surgery is usually performed under general anesthesia. The procedure takes approximately one hour to perform and the length of time you’ll need to recover at the facility after will depend on your individual case. You may be able to go home the same day, but you also may need to stay in the hospital overnight to feel more comfortable in your recovery.

During the surgery, an incision is made either on the perimeter of the areola or below the breast to insert the implants. Then implants are inserted either behind the breast or behind your chest muscle tissue, depending on which is best for you. Once symmetrical, the incision is closed with stitches.

In case you have a breast enlargement by fat transfer, the surgeon will harvest fat from your own body to create a fuller breast. The benefit of this type of breast augmentation is that there is no foreign object placed inside the body and no cutting of the skin, therefore, there will be no scarring. Fat is extracted from the body by liposuction from the hips, thighs, or abdomen. After the fat has been processed and purified, it is meticulously injected back into the breasts. Our expert surgeons will work with you to understand your objectives and the results you want to achieve.
